An exhibition of playful, satirical and nostalgic work investigating the changing of an everyday object to form new contemporary fabrics using paint and alteration. Some of the work in the exhibition includes their recent experiments working with Tin can to create painterly fabric forms. These works mimic fabrics but act as paintings/sculptures, questioning the relationship between fabric/fashion and contemporary Art. The exhibition also showcases pieces of wearable art that could be hung or styled on the body as-well as selected.
John James perangie is a Multidisciplinary Queer Artist based in the North East predominately working in painting and sculpture. They investigate the changing and alteration of objects and make work based on visuals and pop culture they have seen around them in current day and from their past. They also investigate the idea of styling and Queering an object or selected material, their work currently looks at Finding the Fabric in the everyday.

4 piece Canadian Indie Rockers Apollo Ghosts stop by as part of their UK tour on the way to End Of The Road Festival.
Their new album ‘Pink Tiger’ is a 2 part, 22-song masterpiece.
Part 1, “Pink” (LP 1, tracks 1-11), is an intimate home recorded acoustic based cycle that grapples with loss, illness, death, and memory. Part 2, “Tiger” (LP 2, tracks 12-22) is an exuberant indie-garage rock celebration of the persistence of friendship, music, and hope. Apollo Ghosts draw on a long history of independent and locally focused music making, from Flying Nun to K Records to their own Vancouver scene, to reinvigorate indie guitar rock songwriter with ambition and poise.
James Leonard Hewitson returns to Base Camp, this time flying solo with an energetic and thought provoking set. Here’s a video of him singing on Seaton Carew beach…

Event Details
After one of the stand-out Base Camp live performances of last year, we’re delighted that Michigan born Anna Ash returns to showcase her fourth studio album Sleeper.
With music that is equal parts folk and atmospheric indie pop, she channels the spirit of the classic blues singers to conjure songs that are both hopeful and fearful at once. She has a lot to say, often hard hitting, brooding and dark but always calmly and expressly articulated with a trademark vocal discipline that hits notes that others would not dare to attempt but all the time combined with a chic coolness.
Live, she draws you into her tales of past memories and future hopes, with a sharp wit, and a blend of compassion and irony. Her presence is sensuous, with a voice to match that enthrals and captivates the audience.
“Sleeper is an album that will stay with you after a few plays, and as a contender for album of the year will take some beating”
(Fatea UK).
“Ash tells rueful stories that hark back to her Michigan childhood as she stretches her stunning vocal range”
(Americana UK).
“Anna Ash has curated a mesmerising body of songs that circulate like a gentle carousel”
(Three Chords and The Truth).
“The unpretentious sound of Anna Ash helps yet again create an album of strange melodies and near-perfect storytelling.” (5 stars) (RnR Magazine)

Event Details
Hot from the ashes of one of Scotland’s most vicious live experiences, YABBA are the new breed. Just one show was enough to convince ATC to snap them up (Fontaines DC/IDLES) and they release first single BIG COUNTRY on premier London hype label NICE SWAN at the end of June.
From Dumfries, in south west Scotland, their incomparable sleaze-disco, self-indulgent, drug jam sound has driven the quintet in equal measure to go above and beyond all cultural norms, and to fecund a feeling in music that specialises in the dark and danceable. Refusing to be defined or confined to any limits, for art’s sake, YABBA finds inspiration from the malevolent power structures within an exhausted musical landscape. Out to project ecstasy through honest music, YABBA believes it’s all or nothing in order to protect and survive.
Despite having no trace of recordings, their slew of support shows in March with the Belfast buzz-saw-band Enola Gay, were very well received. YABBA supported shows in Newcastle, Sunderland and Sheffield. Selling out shows in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester and Nottingham.
Their music has been showcased at the likes of Wide Days, Scottish Alternative Music Awards and Nouvelle Prague, in Czech Republic. Their rocketing reputation has allowed them to play a run of quality, some sold-out, live shows in the likes of Glasgow, in Broadcast, King Tuts Wah Wah Hut and Saint Luke’s and the Winged Ox. As well as storming some tastemaker festivals such as XPO North, Stag & Dagger Festival, Electric Fields Festival, Tenement Trail, Dot 2 Dot Festival and Songs From Northern Britain
Support from the brilliantly named Haunted Hair. Tickets £7.50

Jesse Terry’s seventh album, When We Wander, is the first he wrote since becoming a parent. So it’s no surprise the family
Event Details
Jesse Terry’s seventh album, When We Wander, is the first he wrote since becoming a parent. So it’s no surprise the family theme courses through many of its 12 songs. His music career has been a family project ever since he became a full-time touring artist a decade ago.
That was right around the time when Jesse met his wife Jess working on a cruise ship in the South Pacific. “As soon as we got back to the states, I proposed to her at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe in July 2010 and we packed up the car for the first tour right after that. We’ve been touring together full-time ever since.” Now with two-year-old Lily added to the clan, family is more important than ever to him, including the parental urge to love and protect. “If I were the moon, I’d light all of your back roads,” he sings in “If I Were The Moon”: “You wouldn’t need no headlights / I’d always be full.”
The life of a touring family inspired the album’s title track. “When we wander, when we wander / Don’t it feel like we’re finally found.” But in the face of the pandemic, he has found that “wandering is not just a literal thing. We’ve followed our hearts with so many decisions in 2020-2021, and have found that there are many ways to wander and be free and brave.”
One of those ways has been going virtual. He says that his livestream concerts have “become the highlight of my week and the thing that sustains us emotionally and financially. And an amazing community has sprung up from these concerts.”
The stage had been Jesse’s home for a decade. He plays around 150 shows a year, from Bonnaroo to the Philadelphia Folk Festival, the 30A Songwriters Festival to AmericanaFest. When the pandemic canceled concerts and delayed the album’s release, he pivoted to performing online and found a strong new connection to his fans, who had helped fund his albums all along. “My musical tribe has always been there for me,” he says with gratitude.
Though recorded in 2019, the songs off the new album click with fans online too. He and his band recorded When We Wander live in the studio, a first for his career. “I wanted to try that Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, Neil Young approach to live recording, prioritizing emotion and raw performances over perfection. I loved that experience.” Recorded live, the album resonates especially with the intimacy and community spirit of the online shows.
He also wrote all the music and lyrics this time, instead of working with collaborators, and took a very personal approach, including a look back. “In Spite of You” recalls his stay in a residential facility for behavior modification that traumatized him as a young teenager: “The sermons that you sold me all were fakes.”
Yet he emerged to earn a degree from Berklee College of Music, net a five-year staff writer gig on Nashville’s Music Row penning material for major TV networks, and win prestigious songwriting awards. And then to become the singer-songwriter his countless fans know today, who (in the words of Music News Nashville) “bring[s] to mind iconic artist/poets like Paul Simon and Jackson Browne… [with] a performance that touches the heart like only a whisper can.”

Four voices. Isobel Risk, Gray Rimmer, Lara Laeverenz and Alice Barlow
For those of you who don’t know them yet, it’s quite hard to think of one word that perfectly pinpoints what WOOM do. Choir almost does the job, but despite being almost-acapella, it doesn’t fully characterise their magic. Lets just say for now: together as WOOM, Gray, Izzy, Lara and Alice are four voices. The four-part concept-choir have already amassed a passionate cult fanbase, including past touring partners like King Krule, Whitney and The Big Moon who re-envisage songs in way that is at the same time new and familiar, delicate yet powerful. Their notoriety as a completely immersive, near-transcendental experience is fast becoming the stuff of indie folklore.
Their lush, harmony-laden vocal re-interpretations of songs by Frank Ocean, Angel Olsen & OutKast, amongst others, have become a WOOM calling card. They re-envisage in way that is at the same time new and familiar, delicate yet powerful. Comprising something of a supergroup of southeast London luminaries, WOOM includes members of Babeheaven, Arlo Day, Teeth Machine, Hester, Thidius and Jerkcurb.
Woom come to the North East from a summer of festivals including Glastonbury, Norfolk & Norwich & The Great Escape.

Are serial killers born or made? One thing that we know for certain is that a child’s upbringing can put them at risk of becoming a killer or as FBI Profiler Jim Clemente explains: “Your genetics load the gun, your personality aims it, and the events in your life pull the trigger.”
How To Raise A Serial Killer is an informal talk which incorporates case studies and interviews to illustrate how an innocent child can grow into a cold-blooded killer.
We will look at the childhoods, adolescence years and shocking crimes of the following serial killers to determine exactly what went wrong along the way…
Featuring: Ed Kemper, Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, Aileen Wuornos, Richard Ramirez, John Wayne Gacy, Charles Albright, Fred and Rose West, and many more…
This talk will also include:
– Traumatic head injuries and the link to serial offences
– Three types of mothers most likely to raise a serial killer
– Why kids will kill
Hosted by Crime Viral founder and serial killer expert Cheish Merryweather. This is a live and interactive talk – so expect quizzes, polls, and a Q&A session.

“Hailing from Yorkshire, now South London rooted, DEADLETTER channel the droll fury of The Fall and the lopsided rhythms of LCD Soundsystem into a strain of vehement post-punk, exploring the darker side of existence through a lens of narrative-driven levity. With members being firm friends from birth, there is an instinctive understanding of movement and danceability to their music worth its’ weight in gold, whilst never cheapening the nuance and grit of their sound.. With four singles now under their belt, the only way is upwards for DEADLETTER.
Previously supporting the likes of Squid, Viagra Boys and Pip Blom, DEADLETTER have emerged as a genuinely
thrilling live prospect. Experts in the field of intensity, the band seamlessly switch from conversational verses into a
mix of unadulterated post-punk fury and irresistible rhythm, addressing themes such as bureaucracy, loss of personal
identity, and modern-day consumerism.
“One of London’s most exciting bands” – So Young Magazine
“DEADLETTER are one of the most exciting new acts out there.” – DIY”
