An exciting & bold independent cinema programme screened in an informal, cabaret style with table service, themed cocktails and playlists and the usual friendly Base Camp welcome.
Pre-COVID, we transformed the venue into Summerisle for a solstice screening of The Wickerman & into a 360 degree immersive Berlin underworld for Lust & Sound in West Berlin; we screened archive films such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, It’s A Wonderful Life and The Truman Show; music-inspired films including Cobain: Montage of Heck; Lust & Sound in West Berlin & The Punk Singer.
Our Bad Cinema Club sold out screenings of The Room & Troll 2. We screened opening films by local film makers and partnered with Teesside’s Sad for Life Records for another screening strand.
We are also a hub for Tees Valley filmmakers hosting Tees Valley Screen Socials & funding workshops; one-to-one film surgeries and NFM Indie Film Maker & Shorts Commissioning Events.

“Base Camp is one of Middlesbrough’s freshest creative spaces. They’ve programmed bold film choices & offered audiences a sense of cinema community where there wasn’t one before.”
